We’ll stay at the beautiful Whitepath Lodge in Ellijay, Georgia, with views of the Rich Mountain Wilderness.

Saturday: The Songbird Trail is one of three trails that start at Lake Conasauga Recreation Area. Lake Conasauga, the highest elevation lake in the state, is located in the Cohutta Wilderness Area. Songbird Trail is an easy 1.7 mi loop through an area specifically managed to enhance songbird viewing. The trail follows the Little Conasauga River and provides access to diverse habitats for the birds and observation platforms. Over 100 species of birds have been seen here.

Sunday: The Shirley Miller Wildflower Trail is located on a north facing cove in the Crockford-Pigeon Mountain Wildlife Management Area. The trail includes an 800-foot boardwalk loop (ADA accessible) over the lower part of the cove, and a short trail that leads uphill along Pocket Branch to Pocket Branch Falls. Over 25 species of wildflowers grow here.
